Candied Yams with Apples



  • 4 yams, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 5 apples, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • ½ cup dried blueberries (fresh may work as well) (optional)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 tbsp coconut oil (optional)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground ginger


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Toss all ingredients in a large bowl to combine. Transfer to a baking dish and bake, stirring occasionally, until yams are tender, about 1 hour. Increase oven to 500 degrees F and bake until liquid evaporates and yams are browned, 10 to 15 minutes. Serve immediately.

*Pairs well with vanilla ice cream and chocolate cake or brownies

  1. Hi Michelle!! Greetings from North Andover! Looks like you are having fun… this looks so yummy. Charles was doing cross country at his school so we could relate to your mountain climbing. But with weights!! Hope you will recover soon from your injury.
